Carlos Domingo, Director of Product Development & Innovation at Telefónica Digital, discusses why Telefónica is backing the new Firefox OS mobile platform in a two-minute video on the division’s new YouTube channel.
While on PCs and laptops we enjoy a wide range of internet services through the Web via browsers, on smartphones most services are accessed via native applications. Domingo argues that openness on the Web drove innovation in desktop computing and that we need the same level of openness on mobile.
Firefox OS is also an important initiative in driving smartphone penetration in developing markets.
